Throughout its history, Guelph Utility Pole has consistently made long-term environmental investments in both its business and its products.

Guelph Utility Pole purchases pole stock from suppliers that harvest selectively. In Ontario, Red Pine is purchased from thinning operations in reforestation projects of the Ministry of Natural Resources, thereby financially supporting continued efforts to redevelop the Climax Forests that covered the province before it was settled and farmed.

All Guelph Utility Pole CCA preserved products undergo accelerated fixation in one of two specially- designed conditioning chambers totalling 6000 cubic feet in capacity immediately after pressure treatment to ensure that the preservative forms a highly leach-resistant bond with the wood.

Guelph Utility Pole reclaims and reuses 99 per cent of the liquid sludge produced during pentachlorophenol treating. The innovative oil recovery system they developed won the 1993 OWMC Outstanding Waste Reduction performance Award from the province of Ontario.

Guelph Utility Pole is an active member of The Canadian Wood Preservers' Association, the American Wood Preservers' Association, the Canadian Electrial Association and the Canadian Institute of Treated Wood .
